Project: Oshwal TempleClient: Oshwal Association UK Value: £2mThe Oshwal Temple in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire is a traditional load bearing sand stone and marble building which was hand carved in India by over 200 masons, the workmanship is breathtaking. Ansell & Bailey’s role was to work with the Indian architect to coordinate the whole site design, and to integrate services and UK construction requirements as unobtrusively as possible. This work included concealed lighting, underfloor heating, and a frameless glass draft lobby. Nothing was to have ferrous metal in it for religious reasons, this included the consequently massive concrete foundations. We were responsible for obtaining planning permission for the temple, extensive formal gardens, a partially buried washroom and additional car parking on the green belt site. |
