The Sixth Form College, Farnborough Phases 3 & 4

Ansell & Bailey have completed four major phases of new buildings at the Sixth Form College Farnborough between 1999 and 2005, the latest phases include two buildings of twenty classrooms each and a one hundred and fifty seat refectory. The buildings were planned to be built in phases to cause minimal disruption to the college and to create a new courtyard as a focus for the development. A tensile fabric roof between the two classroom buildings provides sheltered external activity space. The design of the buildings and the palette of materials gives a consistency to the four phases of work and more coherence to the campus as a whole.

Ansell & Bailey were novated to the main contractor Benson/Bluestone, all of the buildings were completed within budget and early. The contract values were Phase 3  £2.2m and Phase 4  £1.6m.
