Project: New Renal Building Client: Hammersmith Hospital, London Value: £23mAnsell & Bailey were commissioned to design the new West London Renal Centre at Hammersmith Hospital from inception to completion. It was finished in November 2005 and is a state of the art facility. The floor area of the new building is 9000m², accommodating wards for 170 beds, including isolation rooms, an ITU, Haemodialysis unit, and assessment facilities. The Building has allowed concentrating and centralising Renal care facilities in an independent unit, which is directly connected to heart of the hospital. Theatres and imaging departments reached through a connecting bridge from the second floor. Internal planning allows for two departments at each of the upper levels with a central circulation core. The central core contains 2 bed lifts, staircase and waiting/reception areas which are treated as public spaces behind full height glazing. There are subsidiary cores at each end of the building containing fire escape stairs, bed/trolley lifts and staircases. |
